It's Still Winter...
No Need to Be S.A.D.

Wear a bright outfit even if the snow is piling up outside your windows...

My outfit:  Sweater ($10): Gap // Tee (Gift): Old Navy // Skirt ($6): Forever 21 //  Tights ($5): Target
Shoes ($15): Forever 21 // Bracelet Set ($4): Forever 21
Sunglasses ($6): Thrift Store // Necklace: (Heirloom)

Wear the colors! (Left to right):  stockorange-ish thingback to the fuchsia124115Tree Trunk
Find them via my profile @ Colourlovers

Take advantage of the (not really) post-Winter/pre-Spring sales!  Stores are getting shipments of all of their Early Spring 2013 merchandise, so they've got to make way by marking down the old product.  Why not try this crazy ASOS scarf or (super trendy) emerald anorak to tide you over until those first peeks of grass?

Try some layering tricks like the ol' tights + socks + boots combo!  It really spices up your outfit and gives your look a "pop" even during these icky months.

What about the guys?  There are no lack of sales for them, either.  Check out this set complete with a fresh off the sale rack Hooded Mac jacket courtesy of the Gap.

I hope some of these sales brighten up your snowy February!  I'll be traveling to L.A. in the coming days, so updates may be scarce.  Hopefully, I'll be updating from sunny California with more cute outfits!  Check back soon, readers.

Until next time,

What the Fashion?

My blogroll seems to be filled with the most unusual of news today - and this is just in the fashion world.  Five stories in particular have piqued my "weird radar".  I'm here to share them with you...

 photo blogfriday_zps15838c84.jpg

1.  Apparently, OPI is going to be collaborating with SPECIAL K to do a nail polish collection.  All we know so far is that this collection will consist of three shades and be available through the purchasing of Kelloggs cereal.  This certainly puts a whole new spin on the concept of "the prize inside".

2.  Bath and Body Works is the official "Hand Sanitizer Sponsor" of the currently ongoing New York Fashion Week.  Who knew such a position existed?

3.  Remember Nickelodeon and their weird affinity for Slime?  Now there's a German company who is manufacturing tights that look like the wearer has been Slimed

4.  Anyone remember all of the uproar surrounding the Target/Missoni collab last year?  Well...the Prabal Gurung for Target collection isn't boding well for the common shopper, either.  Fashion editors and their guests were invited to shop the new collection on Wednesday night.  Items are already appearing on Ebay at inflated prices.  Good luck fashion gurus!

5.  Finally, from BuzzFeed - 14 Random Things You Can Get For Free At Fashion Week.  It's too bad those makeup vending machines aren't yet a thing for the masses.

Happy Weekend, all!

And I leave you with links!

As I mentioned late last week, I'll be leaving for a five day vacation in lovely Minneapolis tomorrow morning. While there, I don't think I'll be blogging all that much, but I'll do the best to update via Facebook and Twitter.

For your enjoyment while I'm away, I leave you with some interesting fashion links to pique your interests...

* What's so special about this dress? Look a bit closer. It's made out of gummy bears! Twelvmag has the whole story about this Alexander McQueen inspired gown made entirely out of the colorful confection.

* Remember when I did that little featurette about cosplaying and fashion? Well, it seems that Racked wanted in on the action and did this article about the recent Anime Expo in L.A.

* Ladies, want in some more great deals from Kohls? Right now, they're having a massive Fourth of July sale that includes markdowns on these two cute tops! Peter Pan collars are really in, and you can't beat a neutral top that is only $16 and work appropriate!

* Part of keeping a blog is having a love for writing. If you share this passion, head over to Figment. You can feature your own original stories and create cover art for them! If nothing else, this is a great boredom deterrent...

* Going hand-in-hand with my Unconventional Styling post about the Fourth of July, MentalFloss has 15 Offbeat Holidays You Can Celebrate in July.

* My history buff side is showing. Brush up on your UK history in time for the London Olympics. Did you know there were probably female gladiators who competed at the Colosseum in Ancient Rome?

* Need to fill up your weekend? Try this DIY project from P.S. I Made This. It's a custom made geometric print top! The possibilities are endless. Personally, I'd get a faded neon tee from a craft store and go crazy...

* I'm a Chicago area native, so I have a lot of pride for my city. Another native, artist Steve Shanabruch, has done graphics for all of the Chicago neighborhoods. These are gorgeous even if you're unfamiliar with the city. Plus, you get a little history lesson on each of the neighborhoods.

* Apparently, a majority of you men out there think Pinterest is just for women. Your lovely counterpart Manteresting is up and running for your pleasure.

* Need a simple way to stay hydrated during these long, hot days? Here are three recipes from A Beautiful Mess to make your own fruit (and vegetable) infused water. Yum!

That's it for now, readers! Please feel free to check in with me this weekend through @seekherthere on Twitter if you're not already following me! I'll have a report coming to you early next week.

See you on the other side of the weekend...

Spring Sale Links!

Today's little Friday supplement is for all you ladies AND gents! I've rounded up some great online sale finds from some of my favorite retailers - Forever 21, Topshop, and Kohls. There's also a coupon involved! Let's jump in...

I'll do the guys a favor and post their set first...

Sale Set - Men
Croft & Barrow shirt + tie combo in Fern and Aqua

I tried to cover all of my bases for this set. Spring was the ultimate focus with my picks, but I also added a dash of adventurous color. I recognize that taking this "color leap" isn't for everyone. It is recommended that you start slow - dip a toe in the water - before you take the plunge into different colors. For example: try the darker purple chinos that are understated before going for the aqua oxford.

And the women's set...

Sale Set - Women

I shouldn't pick favorites, but the floral dress from Forever 21 would be the first piece I would buy from this set. It's easy to dress up or down, and the colors and style will be appropriate for the months to come. At $13.50, you can't go wrong!

Accessories were the funky pieces I picked out for the women's set. Topshop never fails to deliver. I feel like buying the Tiki brooch just to prove that I can pull it off. Admittedly, that's probably a bad reason to do anything, but I also honestly think it's different and super cute!

In addition to these sets, both girls and guys can use this Kohls coupon to get an additional 20% off via our old friend Couponjackie through Saturday, April 15th! Now that's an amazing deal.

If you have deals (especially from Kohls) that you want to see featured here, link me! I would love to see them and share them with the rest of you.

Until next time!

Snow Day Links!

I don't know about the rest of you, but right now we are getting HAMMERED with snow in Chicago. I've been able to do nothing this afternoon but sit in my office and just stare at the inches and inches of powdery stuff coming down and covering everything.

While in contemplation, I wanted to give something back to those of you who are stuck inside on this snowy day.

~ Over at my Pinterest, I've assembled some awesome links to vintage DIYs and fashion that some of you might like to check out.

~ Rookie Mag has an article for tips on looking glam (with a vintage twist) in your everyday life!

~ Pop over to A Beautiful Mess for a simple wall art DIY that will waste a little time and allow you to get your creativity on.

~ Like The Hunger Games? A Tumblr has been launched entitled Capitol Couture. Sign up using the password #lookyourbest, and you can receive updates from the site.

~ Now, something for the guys! Visit The Effortless Gent for tips on classy dressing that won't have you reeling in confusion.

~ Finally, something for everyone. Cracked is my favorite internet time waster. Try The 5 Most Insane Original Uses for Famous Products on for size.

How are you celebrating this unexpected snow day? Comment and feel free to link me to some of your favorite time wasting websites.

Until next time.
